Polite speakers need rambunctious amps/front ends and vise versa to make music sound dynamic and real.we players know that amps, drum kits, saxes.are anything but polite, in person. Guess what I'm saying is that good home audio is optimized with synergies amongst components. I found that the DNA-500 has a more expressive/musical voice versus the ML gear which seemed accurate, but "reserved", IMHO a better match for "caffeinated" speakers like the Wilson Watt/Puppies I passed on for the 10Ts. He said that they needed their backbone to control the bass whilst not giving up on the upper register.

Michael Kelly, Mr Aerial, showed his speakers with Levinson power amps like yours. Older very high def speakers (1990s) that kick ass when driven and controlled by a very powerful amp.Ĭlick to expand.Yup, a powerful, high quality SS amp + 10Ts is a path to the "band in your living room".

These software "players" turn CD rips into hi def quality sonics, very cool stuff. Up conversion and memory play dramatically enhances clarity of details like spatial cues, percussion instrumental timbre, singer's character and breathing, sax players' reeds.much greater sense of the event in the studio or stage. Summary - Very dynamic and musical delivery of digital files through Mytek (guys that build studio equipment that recently started to offer consumer targeted digital - very reasonably priced and extremely flexible gear).

Mytek DSD192 is connected to DAC by Firewire - it handles PCM 192 and DSD 128 (may need to upgrade DAC to play higher def materials/upsamples), power cable by Virtual Dynamics, sits on Mapleshade platform on big brass points Older very high def speakers (1990s) that kick ass when driven and controlled by a very powerful amp.Ĭomputer, DAC with HQ variable output, SS amp and speakers.pretty simple and no need to mess with hundreds of CD cases, vinyl cleaner, turntable maintenance, tube tweaking.not enough time in my life for that stuff and still play guitar, make a living and care for family.

The B+ is a considerable upgrade in terms of resolution along with lack of grain, it has more recent DAC chips, better clocking an more transparent line stage versus earlier model. McCormack DNA-500 connected to Mytek with 5m balanced Yammamura 5000 cables (Amp is very powerful and musical, replaced 180 watt tube monos), Cullen Crossover HC power cableĪerial 10Ts biwired with Omega Mikro planar (mid/highs) and Acoustic Zen Hologram (bass) Mytek Brooklyn + DAC (replaced a Mytek DSD192) - it handles PCM and 32/384 and DSD 128, powered by a Keces LPS fed by a cable by Virtual Dynamics, sits on Mapleshade platform on big brass points
#CARVER CM 1090 AGE MAC#
Mac Mini 2012 i7 Quad Core running software players - HQ Player, Audirvana+ and Pure Music - have been using the first two to up convert 2,000+ CD rips, stored on a 4 GB La Cie HD, to DSD128 Wife doesn't want to spend money to get surround speakers and amp or a sub, so I'm toughing it out, lol. I could also use a sub, but the Revel F208's have very good bass. Room does not work well for surround, but I'm thinking of putting some speakers in the ceiling because I miss surround more than I thought I would. Still have the Bryston SP2, Oppo and the Mackie HR 626, running L/C/R for TV/movies and stereo for music. Moved back to a house a while ago and got a pair of Revel Performa3 F208's powered by a Bryston 3B SST2. When I sold the house, the guy didn't want to pay for the gear or acoustic treatment so I sold most everything because we moved to a small condo.
